Ingredients

4 boneless pork chops (about 1 inch thick)

1 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon paprika

2 tablespoons olive oil

1 medium onion, thinly sliced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 cup chicken broth

1 cup heavy cream

1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon dried thyme

1 cup fresh mushrooms, sliced (optional)

Fresh parsley, chopped for garnish

Instructions

Season the Pork Chops: In a small bowl, mix together the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Rub the seasoning evenly over both sides of the pork chops.

Sear the Pork Chops: Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the pork chops and sear for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown. Remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Sauté the Onions and Garlic: In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium. Add the sliced onions and sauté until they are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

Create the Sauce: Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Mix in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, dried thyme, and sliced mushrooms if using. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer.

Combine and Cook: Return the seared pork chops to the skillet, spooning some of the sauce over them. Reduce the heat to low and cover the skillet. Let them simmer for about 10-15 minutes, or until the pork chops are cooked through and the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).

Serve: Once cooked, remove the skillet from heat and let the pork chops rest for a few minutes. Spoon the creamy sauce over the chops before serving.

              - Presentation Tips: Serve the smothered pork chops on a plate with a generous ladle of the sauce on top. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley for a pop of color. Pair with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetables for a complete meal.
